Hi Steph, I just found you here after listening to you on the ‘our Roccy road’ podcast. Learning about PDA for the first time today has definitely been a lightbulb moment for me! I’ve recently discovered my 4 year old son is Autistic after having spent the past 2 years thinking he has ADHD (he might well have both, of course, but he’s not been diagnosed officially yet!) and all of the strategies I’ve been told are vital to Autistic children such as having schedules and routines are no use to us because he will go to great lengths to avoid anything a routine entails. If I ask him to do something he won’t just not comply, he will often do the complete opposite. Nothing can motivate him to do the thing and every single moment of every day is a battle and it’s incredibly tiring as you probably know! Really looking forward to reading your book when it comes out and learning more from you!

— I've honestly never seen any good evidence that ODD is a distinct disorder — it seems to be a catch-all diagnosis for "your child's behavior is overwhelming to adults and we don't know why." The "solutions" given often amount to treating your child like a prisoner, which is often a *total distaster* given that many children labeled ODD have undiagnosed PDA, ADHD, or complex trauma histories.

— I'd be really interested to see research on the overlap between ADHD and PDA. Almost every PDA adult I know is AuDHD, self-included. While PDA is an atypical autism profile, I've often wondered if it's the 'typical' profile for AuDHD + anxiety!
