I know, I know, Thursday evening just before Christmas is probably the worst time to send an email… if you’ve read this far, thank you! I just couldn’t wait to tell you about a new PDA book that’s just been published. It’s called All About PDA - an insight into Pathological Demand Avoidance. I love it, and thought it was worth sharing just in case anyone fancied picking up a copy as a last minute gift for friends and family.
There’s more of a peek inside the book and explanation of what’s good about it over in my blog post - it would make me very happy if you’d click/tap to visit that post here: All About PDA {Book Review}
(I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, but every ‘visit’ to my blog helps it be seen by more people, and I hope that (even though lately I’ve not been as good as I used to be at updating it) the information in my blog helps other families.)
Has anyone else made any resolutions yet? I’m not a fan of that word at all and yet it keeps popping into my head. Maybe because I know I need to decide what I do with my ‘blogging’ and social media life going forward? But I don’t like the pressure of trying to have that plan in place by the start of January. So I try to avoid and ignore any talk of resolutions… I’ll do it in my own time, at my own pace. Sound familiar to anyone?!
Helping PDA children at Christmas
As I took a quick look on my blog to see what helpful tips I could give about how to stay calm at Christmas, I came across one of my earliest blog posts (called Merry Christmas to us!) and thought it might interest some of you! Does the lining up of presents look familiar at all? The post also describes how the council SEN team finally agreed to assess Sasha to see if she needed a Statement of SEN (this was the precursor to what most people know as an EHCP these days). Click the photo or the underlined text to read more!
As for the tips to help PDA children at Christmas, here’s a post I wrote about that.
Quick summary if you’re pushed for time; Let it go, look out for the signs, ask yourself ‘does it really matter?’ and know your limits, and theirs!
Last minute gift ideas
Just a quick reminder of these posts of mine that might help with some gift ideas! Let me know if you liked any of the suggestions in these?!
Question Time
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Or does the thought of them send a shiver down your spine?!
All that’s left is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and I hope that the New Year brings you lots of peace and joy (can I politely suggest avoiding any contact with your Local Authority wherever possible to help with that, ha!). Thank you so much for reading my rambling this year, and for everyone who supported the launch of our book.
If you have any questions, or helpful suggestions about what I should do with my life, please get in touch via stephstwogirls@gmail.com or reply to this email.
Thank you for sharing - only just found it so too late for Xmas but it looks like a great book!
